New Long Haul Services for Fort Lauderdale

Norwegian_AirShuttle_logo Last week, Norwegian Air Shuttle announced plans to start Long Haul service to Fort Lauderdale - Hollywood International in Southern Florida. The ironic part is that the flights wont be coming from Norway. The airline will commence flights from Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden this Winter. The new routes will be just the second and third Long Haul - International services into Fort Lauderdale. The majority of Southern Florida's international flights fly into nearby Miami International, where American Airlines has a hub. Currently, Condor operates flights from Frankfurt, Germany on a seasonal basis. The new service demonstrates Norwegian's recent attempts to finally compete with SAS-Scandinavian Airlines, which until now has had a complete monopoly on the Scandinavian Long-Haul market. The airline also announced its intentions to begin non-stop service from Copenhagen to New York City and Bangkok, beginning in 2014. How could this get any better?? The new service will utilize Boeing 787 Dreamliners! That is, assuming there aren't any more problem with the aircraft. The airline's 787 are finished and just awaiting permission for Test Flights from the FAA. Here are all the details about the new Fort Lauderdale Services: Stockholm (ARN) - Ft. Lauderale (FLL): -2x weekly service (Thursdays & Sundays) -Departs Stockholm at 2:30 PM local time and arrives in FLL at 7:30 PM local time -Departs FLL at 9:30 PM local time and arrives back in Stockholm at 1 PM the following day Copenhagen (CPH) - Ft. Lauderdale (FLL): -2x weekly service (Mondays & Fridays) -Departs Copenhagen at 2:45 PM local time and arrives in FLL at 7:30 PM local time -Departs FLL at 9:30 PM local time and arrives back in Copenhagen at 12:45 PM the following day
