Washington Dulles to be first destination for 747-8i

German flag carrier, and launch customer for the Boeing 747-8i, Lufthansa has announced that the first destination for the airliner will be Washington D.C.'s Dulles International Airport. The passenger version of the improved and enlarged jumbo jet is expected to be delivered from Boeing within the next few weeks. Lufthansa has already ordered 20 aircraft, making it the biggest customer for the type so far. The aircraft will replace the 747-400's currently used on the route from the Frankfurt hub. The new aircraft will be equipped to hold 386 passengers, greatly increasing capacity on this popular route.
